Cops: Amityville man committed 4 burglaries in 1 day
An Amityville man was arrested Wednesday after committing four burglaries the same day, Nassau police said.
Police said Lawrence B. Herrera, 33, of 69 Birch Rd., started his break-ins at 7:20 a.m. and continued for nearly five hours. He was charged with four counts of burglary.
Herrera first entered an unoccupied residence on Clarissa Road in Bethpage, where he removed a laptop computer along with assorted jewelry, police said.
At around 9:30 a.m., he entered an unoccupied home on Daniel Road in North Massapequa, police said, where he took a laptop computer, jewelry and a digital camera.
Next, he went to an Amherst Drive home, also in North Massapequa, where he pried open the front door, which set off the alarm and scared him off, police said.
Finally, he broke into a home on Eagle Lane in Levittown, pried open the front door and took jewelry, police said. A neighbor who saw him breaking in called 911. Two officers arrived, noticed Herrera's silver van as it departed and pulled it over at Corncrib Lane and Jerusalem Avenue.
He faces arraignment Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
