Two Bronx men were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center after they were shot and wounded on Mount Vernon Avenue early this morning, police said.
Both men were found wounded in the back seat of two separate cars on Mount Vernon Avenue after being shot by a small caliber handgun, police Commissioner David Chong said. Police believe they were shot on the street and then put into the cars.

The wounds to both men, one 21 years old and the other 19, were not life-threatening, Chong said.
It is not known if there were one or more shooters involved in the incident.
The shooting of the two men is the second serious violent incident this week in Mount Vernon.
On Tuesday, Paul L. Laing, 27, of Mount Vernon, was shot at the corner of Fourth Avenue and East Fourth Street. He later died in Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
Chong said the two incidents are not connected. No one has been arrested in either the homicide or the double shooting.
Police received notice of the latest shooting at 12:47 a.m. Police were called to 14 Mount Vernon Ave. on a report of shots fired.
As police raced to the scene, they were notified by police headquarters that there were two wounded men in two separate cars at 53 Mount Vernon Ave.
Police found the 21-year-old Bronx man in the back seat of a black 1998 Honda with Florida license plates. He had been shot once in the right buttocks.
The younger victim was in the back seat of a 1995 black Nissan Maxima. He had been shot once in the leg.
Empress Ambulance rushed both to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
"Both victims refused to give us any information as to what happened," Chong said this morning. "It is very difficult to investigate these cases when the victims refuse to give us any information."
Police did find four shell casings from a .25-caliber handgun in front of 53 Mount Vernon Ave., the Bowling Den Bar.
Chong said droplets of blood were found inside the bar which had been abandoned but its doors were still open.
Chong said it appeared as though everyone fled the bar.
Chong said the bar has been the subject of police raids resulting in numerous arrests recently. He said the police department is working with the New York State Liquor Authority to investigate at the bar.
Police do not know exactly where both men were shot.
Both cars were impounded for forensic evidence.
