Police Blotter (Crime News) of New Rochelle Print E-mail
A 19-year-old New Rochelle man who police said successfully cashed a forged Foot Locker paycheck last week got caught when he returned to the same check-cashing place yesterday with two more forgeries.

Michael Hawkins, of 550 Fifth Ave., was arrested after an employee of Port Chester Check Cashing at 153 Westchester Ave. recognized him and called police at 6:30 p.m., police Lt. James Ladeairous said.
Hawkins told police he had purchased the Foot Locker checks for $100 each from a Bronx check-forgery ring. He cashed one for $481 last week. The Port Chester business was unable to collect the money from the bank, so it was on high alert when he returned yesterday and presented checks for another $1,076, police said.

He was charged with two felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Police did not charge him for last week's incident, Ladeairous said. The investigation is continuing.
