Man injured during city shooting
A 27-year-old man was grazed in the head by a bullet about 4 a.m. Sunday during an incident that took place in two different areas on Rochester's west side.
The victim was in a car at the intersection of West Avenue and Colvin streets when three suspects got out of another vehicle and fire three shots through the windshield of the victim’s car, said Rochester Police Lt. Frank Alberti.
"There was a previous incident between the two parties in this car and the suspects, which led to three shots being fired at the intersection of West Avenue and Colvin Street, at the victim's car," DiPrimo said. "The car was struck and the driver was struck. Luckily, he was just grazed in the head, and he's got minor injuries."
One shot grazed the left side of the victim’s forehead and injured his right ear, Alberti said.
The victim, whose name was not released, drove away, but the suspects followed. The victim’s car stalled on Westfield Street, where he got out and ran away. The suspects fired three more shots, but missed the victim, Alberti said.
A female, riding in the passenger seat of the car, was not injured, DiPrimo said. The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening, Alberti said.
DiPrimo said that the incident remains under investigation.
