Schenectady man arrested on weapons charges

A 22-year-old Schenectady man was arrested early Monday after police said they found a loaded handgun and assault rifle in his car.

Sayquan Walters, was pulled over on Ontario Street for excessive tint on his windows. During the stop, officers said they found a loaded .38 caliber handgun on the back floor behind the passenger's seat and a .45 caliber rifle, loaded with hollow point ammunition. The bullets expand on contact, inflicting more damage than traditional ammunition.

Walters was charged with second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court later Monday morning and taken to Albany County Jail without bail.
