Jerry L. Hunter, age 77, of Napa, Calif., passed away peacefully July 12, 2008, at Queen of the Valley Hospital, with his lovely wife and children by his side.
He was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Nampa, and for his entire life he was very much his own man. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Kathryn Hunter, three sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by Nancy, his loving wife of 51 years, daughter Leslie Hunter, son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Melanie Hunter, granddaughter Amberly Hunter and grandson Tyson Hunter, all of Napa, CA, brother Robert Hunter of Afton, WY, numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many dear friends.
Jerry's newspaper career included papers in Nampa, Caldwell and Boise; Bend and Corvallis, Ore., and 33 years as Classified Advertising Manager for the Napa Valley Register.
Jerry was a gregarious, big-hearted man who would do anything for anybody. He was a family-oriented man whose children and grandchildren were the lights of his life.
The Hunter family would like to offer its deepest thanks and appreciation to the Napa Fire Department and staff of Queen of The Valley ER and ICU for their efforts and assistance.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, in the chapel of Richard Pierce Funeral Services, with inurnment to follow at Tulocay Cemetery, Napa, CA.
