Police Blotter (Crime Report)
Authorities looking for driver involved in fatality accident
A 16-year-old girl died late Friday in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 240. Police are seeking the hit-and-run driver who caused the wreck.
Brittany Althoff of Oklahoma City died about 11:30 p.m. on westbound I-240 near Walker Avenue, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
A green 2006 Pontiac G6 was speeding when it crashed into the back of the car in which Althoff was riding, the patrol said. The impact forced Althoff's car to swerve in front of a van, which struck it and caused it to overturn.
Joseph Althoff, 51, of Oklahoma City, was driving the car, the patrol said. He and passenger Ashley Runkle, 17, of Midwest City, were not seriously injured. Van driver Jeramie Chaffin, 24, of Oklahoma City, was unharmed.
Only Chaffin and Joseph Althoff were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
The Pontiac left the scene. The car, bearing Texas tag 981-RGB, should have significant front-end damage and could be leaking oil and transmission fluid, troopers said.
Anyone with information about the car or its driver is asked to call the patrol at 425-2323.
