Sales Event at Stadium Lofts a Smashing Success |

People lined the sidewalk along
Katella Boulevard in Anaheim last Friday night, not in anticipation of the
midnight release of the newest video game or blockbuster movie, but to
become new home owners. WINDSTAR, developers of Stadium Lofts, the first
residential community in Anaheim's visionary "Platinum Triangle," was about
to hold a special one-day sales event on Saturday (7/26) where 58 premium
new homes would be made available for sale at a savings of as much as
$125,000. Potential buyers came from as far as Vancouver, Canada to take
advantage of this rare opportunity, many intent on arriving early.
"We arrived Friday about 4 p.m. and we were able to secure the number
one, first in line spot," said Marilou Bouquid who was accompanied by her
husband and two children. The event started at 10:00 A.M. Saturday.
Because homes were available on a first come, first serve basis to
qualified buyers, people started arriving as much as 23 hours before the
event was to begin. Among them was Connie Williams, who arrived a day early
to hold a place in line for her son, Casey, a first time home buyer.
"I got here really early, at about 11 a.m., so that we could be one of
the first to choose a home. My son came later in the day, after work, to
meet me," said Williams. "It really paid off because he got his first
choice."
Interested buyers had to visit Stadium Lofts in advance to pre-qualify
for their home loans and select a floor plan. Once this was completed, they
were awarded a special "Event Pass" that granted them access to line-up on
the day of the event. They were also required to bring a $5,000 cashier's
check to be used towards the purchase of their new home.
Beginning Saturday at 10:00 a.m., pass holders were escorted inside the
Stadium Lofts lobby where they were enthusiastically greeted by staff and
given the opportunity to select a property from those designated for sale
and highlighted on a large board. When the key for the property was
removed, a "sold" sign appeared underneath it. By noon, more than 50 homes
had been sold and a list had been taken on nearly 20 prospective buyers
interested in other properties not on the sales list.
Amid all the attention currently placed on Southern California's real
estate woes, and the newly passed federal housing bill now awaiting White
House approval, it was a heartening sight to see so many people have the
opportunity to experience the joy and satisfaction of home ownership.
"By making the homes so much more affordable, the developer wins by
selling its property while putting home ownership into the hands of those
who would otherwise be priced out of the market," noted Doma Properties
real estate broker, Scott Hamilton.
By way of example, Hamilton noted that the most affordable units
available, a one bathroom loft, was reduced to $242,908 down from $341,400,
with the largest, a two bedroom, two bathroom condo sold at $402,966 down
from $535,300.
Stadium Lofts is located in the middle of a vibrant, 24-hour,
mixed-use, home/retail setting that's destined to be Orange County's new
downtown. Nearby landmark attractions include Angel Stadium, the Grove of
Anaheim, and Honda Center. Newly opened is Anaheim's GardenWalk, a
