Obituary : Gregory Lee Bartlett Print E-mail
Gregory Lee Bartlett, Born on July 7, 1947 in Puyallup, WA, Left this earth minutes before the dawn on August 25,2008 to be with the Lord. Greg bravely fought his battle with congestive heart failure and small cell lung cancer, related to Agent Orange. Greg, a faithful and loving husband, has left behind Paula Oxford Bartlett with whom he began a life long romance in 1978 that culminated in marriage on July 22, 1983. The romance lingered and they shared 30 wonderful, happy and loving years together. Greg was a 1965 graduate of Bakersfield High School. After serving in the Vietnam War. He received his AA degree from Bakersfield Community College. Greg worked at his father's business "Bartlett Construction" where he and his dad built homes together. Greg also worked 22 years for KVS. He began as a crane operator. Later promoted to a supervisor and lastly promoted to a department manager before his health forced him into medical retirement. In 1968 Greg served in 3rd Infantry in Vietnam and while in battle was seriously wounded. He received a number of decorations for his service to our country, including a Purple Heart. Greg enjoyed watching NASCAR races, football games, piddling with his classic cars as well as participating in past years as a member of the '55, '56 and '57 Chevy Club and in attending various car shows A favorite pastime was visiting Montana De Oro, Pismo Beach and relaxing at their mobile home in Los Osos, CA. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Enid Bartlett, and is survived by his wife and best friend, Paula Bartlett, whom he loved and adored; sons, Kenneth and Troy Lynn Mayes; daughter, Suzanne Lugo; son, Brian Bartlett and wife, Amy; daughter, Angela and husband, Brad Everste; daughter, Carrie and husband, Billy Williamson; brother, Orville Bartlett; sisters, Sammi Mills and Martha Adams; sister in law Kaye and husband, John Coletti; numerous, nephews, nieces, uncles, and aunts. The joy of his life was his grandchildren. Surviving Grandchildren are Chelsie, Troy Lynn II, and Samuel Mayes; Jade and Raven Bartlett; Taylor, Ryan and Erin Everste; Dakota and Scarlet Williamson and Brittany Leith. Paula wishes to give very special thanks to DR. Ailenn Matuk, Dr. Peter Nolas, Dr. Ravi Patel, Dr. Ricardo Vega, the staff at CBCC and the ICU nurses at Mercy Hospital for their Professional care and concern as well as the family members and friends who steadfastly gave their time, love, and encouragement. Donations may be made in Greg's memory to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Thursday evening visitation for family and friends at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary, 2739 Panama Lane, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29, Greenlawn Southwest at 2:00 p.m. all are welcome.
