Think twice Stella I guess a place where students are learning to put hot wax on you and rip hairs out is probably not the first place you'd consider going, but the price is right, so I booked an appointment.I had a little trouble finding the place as it is tucked back into a little square behind some other buildings. I was expecting something...well...something else. The website made this place sound pretty upscale and the profiles of the teachers were impressive. Whoever designed that site did a good job, but it doesn't reflect reality. The woman at the reception desk looked nice and was very pleasant. I paid $20 for my full leg wax and sat down to wait. Two girls who looked like they would rather be somewhere else led me back to a little room in the back. Neither of them seemed to have a clue what they were doing. I had on capris and they didn't offer me a robe or ask me to remove the pants. I had to ask. They looked at each other and said something in Spanish and one went off to ask, I guess. I looked around and saw a stained chair in the corner. The wax looked weird and the whole set up back there was barren and seedy looking. I immediately knew I definitely did NOT want to go through with this. So, I asked for my money back and was given no trouble. I don't know if it's the same for hairstyles, but there were no customers and very few students in the place. I wonder why?? |
