PERKINS, ALBERTA Alberta Bryce Perkins, nee Staples, passed in Chula Vista
on August 21, 2008. Alberta received a Bachelor of Science degree from UC
Berkeley and worked as a Medical Technologist. She was Chief Technologist at Mt.
Zion Hospital in San Francisco for a long period. She later moved to the San
Diego area when she married Tom Bryce and worked in labs here. Several years
after Scottie's death, she married John Perkins. John predeceased her. Alberta
(Al or Ali) was always up to date on current events, movies and books and
enjoyed lively conversations about those topics. She loved the opera and didn't
answer the phone during Saturday Met broadcasts (or during Jeopardy). Her
favorite food was chocolate. She enjoyed her pet kitties, especially Nicole and
Sweetie Pie. Al had a gift for friendship and her sense of humor and ready laugh
were well known to all. She was a long time member of A.A. She both inspired and
was loved by many people. She is survived by her sister Mary Ann Staples,
sister-in-law Dana Staples and nieces' Kathleen, Rebekkah, Lisa and Katie. For
all who knew and loved her, her spirit and love of life will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Lighthouse for the Blind or
Shiley Eye Hospital. A Celebration of Alberta's life will be held at Glen Abbey
in Bonita, Sept 3rd, at 1 p.m.
