Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Assistant Director for Enrollment and Recruitment at the Cupertino (FTE .80) campus provides recruitment, admission and enrollment services designed to meet the needs of prospective, admitted, deposited, and enrolled undergraduate and graduate students and alumni. As part of the Cupertino Enrollment Management Team, the Assistant Director collaborates with colleagues in the schools and colleges, as well as other departments in Academic and Enrollment Services to provide a broad range of independent and complex recruitment and enrollment services.

Specifically, the Assistant Director interviews applicants to evaluate application materials and assists candidates in helping them determine their educational needs; screens, advises and informs prospective students about academic programs and majors, curriculum choices and content, availability, entrance and graduation requirements, degree planning, labor market and career trends, experiential learning (if appropriate), admission and graduation requirements, tuition and fees and financial aid planning and availability. This position requires maintaining an on-going service relationship with students throughout their academic and professional careers.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Assists in the planning and attainment of regional campus enrollment, retention, graduation and service goals. With the director and colleagues from other appropriate departments, the Assistant Director develops, implements and evaluates marketing and outreach efforts relative to immediate and long-term goals for admission and enrollment.
2. Conducts information meetings and represents USF at education fairs, corporate and other public events. Develops knowledge of competitor programs in the Cupertino region.
3. Conducts preliminary transcript evaluations, academic degree planning; general education, major, minor and graduation requirements; tuition and fees; financial aid; application and registration procedures; and career and corresponding educational planning.
4. Works with Director and school/college/regional campus colleagues (as appropriate) with developing and implementing the student recruitment/marketing plans, as well as the development and execution of print and e-communication strategies designed to interest students in the University's programs, outreach to, and recruitment of students to undergraduate and graduate programs.
5. Serves as liaison with community college counselors.
6. Serves as resource to students and faculty members. Advises and directs students and faculty about administrative policies and issues. Assists with questions and problems and facilitates their resolution. For example, provides financial aid information, as well as information about available services at regional and main campuses and teaching assignments.
7. Advises and proposes solutions to the Director on issues that may create barriers to students' seamless transitions to USF. Assesses student satisfaction on an ongoing basis and works quickly to resolve concerns/problems.
8. Develops, with the Director, the site orientation for new faculty members.
9. Assists with the graduation ceremonies.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Responsibilities Accountabilities:

The Assistant Director for Enrollment and Recruitment reports to the Director of the Cupertino Regional Campus.

Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree required, master's degree strongly preferred.
2. At least two years admissions /recruitment /advising experience, preferably in an educational setting.
3. One year of public speaking experience; at least two years of marketing experience in an educational setting is strongly preferred.
4. Ability to plan, analyze and evaluate.
5. Ability to work as part of a team.
6. Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, administrators and professional colleagues. Ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative professional relationships with staff and faculty colleagues.
7. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
8. Ability to work with minimal supervision, establish priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and follow through and meet deadlines.
9. Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
10. Proficiency with web authoring, desktop publishing, word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), electronic mail, presentation (PowerPoint) and Internet resources (Dreamweaver, Collage, In-Design) software program.
11. Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
