Arthur Van Overen July 27, 1930 – Mar 9, 2009 A resident of Cupertino, California for 50 years, Arthur was a devoted father of ten children, loving husband to his wife Eleanor and supportive companion to his extended family and large circle of friends. The oldest of four children born to Martin and Gertrude Van Overen of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Arthur moved to California with his wife Eleanor whom he met while in the US Navy stationed at Moffett Field. Arthur's career spanned 35 years at Lockheed's Missiles and Space division where his work lives on in the electrical design of the Hubble Space Telescope. Arthur's dedication, patience and sense of fun served him well as father to his ten children. Frequent family outings were blessed with joy and laughter as they explored together the mountains, parks and beaches of the Bay Area and California. As a devout Catholic, Arthur was involved in parish life at St. Joseph of Cupertino Church and School. Arthur died peacefully on March 9th, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanor, his sons, Arthur, Jr., Steven, Timothy, Thomas and Michael, and his four daughters Cindy, Janice, Susan and Kay. He is pre-deceased by his third son, Bryan. Arthur has 24 grandchildren. Visitation is Thursday, March 12th from 6 pm to 7 pm, Rosary service is 7 pm at Lima Family of Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester, Santa Clara. Funeral service is Friday at 10:30 am at St. Joseph of Cupertino Catholic Church, 10110 North De Anza Boulevard, Cupertino. Burial service follows at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Joseph of Cupertino School.
