Obituary : Junelle Denison Print E-mail
JUNELLE EVELYN McPHERSON DENISON Junelle Evelyn McPherson Denison went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 24, 2008. Junelle was born on February 19, 1923, to Glen and Lucille McPherson in Townsend, Montana. Junelle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Karol Denison; and her brothers, Joseph Richard and Phillip Neil McPherson. She moved to Fresno at the age of five and continued her life story here in Fresno. She graduated from Fresno High School in 1940, and attended Fresno State College. In 1942, she was honored with the role of War Bond Queen, a beauty contest sponsored by Fresno County Junior Chamber of Commerce. Previously, she had won a contest sponsored by Warner Brothers, earning her a right to travel to the finals in Hollywood. She was introduced by her brother to Karol Denison in 1945, and they were married two years later. Junelle co-owned Sheri's Dress Shop in Fresno in the late 1960's to early 1970's. After that, she worked as the front desk admission registrar at the then Fresno Community Hospital until her retirement in 1991. She enjoyed her retirement years traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her travels took her to Hawaii, Europe, Mexico, Canada, and most recently, Costa Rica. One of Junelle's most endearing assets was that once she made a friend, they were her friend for life. Junelle was surrounded and loved by her lifelong friends. Many thanks to Mrs. Tootsie Riggs and Mrs. Barbara Palmquist who were with Junelle to the end. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Saint Agnes Hospice, the Emergency Department at Saint Agnes Medical Center, the Saint Agnes Cancer Center, Cindy Kitchen with A-Plus Home Care who gave Junelle the exemplary care that every patient deserves, and all the wonderful friends that gave to Junelle and the Golding family their time, thoughtfulness and generosity. Mere words cannot convey the family's deepest gratitude. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Rick Golding of Clovis; grandchildren, Jordan Richard Golding and Lauren Nicole Golding of Clovis; step-granddaughters, Amanda Golding of Fresno, and Michelle Ebey of Yuba City; nephews, Robert McPherson and Randy McPherson, both of Clovis; niece, Barbara McPherson Ochester of Philadelphia; her companion of seven years, Hal Diel of Fresno; and numerous friends who loved her dearly. A Memorial Service to honor Junelle's life will be held at the New Covenant Community Church "Chapel" on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Agnes Hospice, 1111 E. Spruce Ave., Fresno, Ca., 93720; Saint Agnes Emergency Department, 1303 E. Herndon Ave., Fresno, Ca., 93720; or to donor's favorite charity. FAREWELL 660 West Locust Avenue Fresno, Ca.
