Michael Owen Walker Sept. 28, 1932 ~ Dec. 17, 2008 Resident of San Ramon Michael "Mike" Walker passed away peacefully at home following a short battle with cancer. He was born in Glendale, CA, residing in the Southern California area before moving to San Ramon in 1969. He dedicated 45 years to the building supplies industry as a sales rep for several companies which included travelling the Western United States. He was in the Navy during the Korean War serving aboard the USS Kenneth Whiting AV 14 and actively attended the ship's reunions for many years, always a highlight of his year. Mike was a member of Valley Christian Center, Dublin, since 1975 where he was active in the choir and Men's Ministries, participating in many of their annual missions trips to Mexico. He was a long time member of the Diablo Valley Mustang Club and was a proud owner, for 42 years, of a 1965 Mustang that he recently restored. Mike, also, enjoyed his years of being a docent for the Blackhawk Auto Museum in Danville. He was an avid motor sports fan, especially watching his granddaughters, Jessica and Taylor, drive their race cars. In addition he loved boating, water skiing, golf and bowling. Through all these adventures in life he had made many friends who are going to miss his warm smile and friendship. Mike is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha "Marty" Walker of San Ramon, his sons Douglas (Jennifer) and Russell, and cherished granddaughters, Jessica, Taylor, Amanda and Kaitlin all of San Ramon. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Valley Christian Center, 7500 Inspiration Drive, Dublin, CA. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Hope Hospice 6500 Dublin Blvd, Dublin or the Valley Christian Center Building Fund, Dublin. Arrangements are under the care of Graham-Hitch Mortuary, Pleasanton, CA (925) 846-5624.
