Lewis Norton Hindley, Jr. May 11, 1920 - August 16, 2008 Born in Long Beach, California, Lew graduated from Wilson High School in 1938 where he was Student Body President and Captain of the football team. H e graduated from the University of Southern California in 1942. He was a member of the Trojan football team for three years and Sigma Chi fraternity. Lew became an officer in the United States Navy and spent time in the Aleutians on a P.T. Boat and in the Philippines-3/8 with an ACORN Group. Upon his return to Long Beach, he joined his father, Lewis Hindley, Sr. as an agent with New York Life and stayed with them for over fifty years. He received the Chartered Life Underwriter designation, and was a life me mber of the Million Dollar Round Table. He was also a member of the Estate Planning and Trust Council, a Rotarian, and Past President of the Long Beach Trojan Alumni. He was, for many years, active in the Long Beach Area Boy Scouts, eventually becoming its Council President, and he was honored with the Silver Beaver Award. Lew and his wife were both very active with the Republican Party. In 1944, Lew married his wife Edith, after meeting her in San Francisco and learning they were born on the same day of th e same year! They lived in Long Beach and Lakewood until 1995 when they moved to their second home in Kona, Hawaii. They were there until 2004 when they moved to Aliso Viejo in Orange County. Besides enjoying the beauty of Hawaii for over 25 years, traveling was a big part of their lives. They visited over 40 countries and were proud of having been in all 50 states. They have three sons; L. Norton Hindley III, in Texas and Kirk and Forrest in Colorado; daughter-in-laws, Debbie, Linda and Debby; and eight gr andchildren, Katy, Scott, Kevin, Brad, Travis, Ryan, Shannon and Taryn. There will be a Memorial Service on September 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the Art Gallery Room of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove.
