Annamae Bernadette Bell
Annamae Bernadette Bell of Oakland passed away Friday, August 27, at home following an extended illness.
Born in New Orleans, Ms. Bell was the fifth-born of seven children to the late John and Margaret Bell. She attended school in New Orleans and in 1943 moved to Vallejo, California. While in Vallejo, she worshiped at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. Ms. Bell was employed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and Napa State Hospital until her relocation to Oakland in 1964, where she attended St. Columba Church.
Affectionately known as ³Nannan,² she is survived by three loving sons, Kerry Lewis, M.D., of Washington, D.C., and Kelvin, president of KBLC-TV, and Kermit Lewis, CEO and owner of Bay Area Mailing Service (Shannon), both of Oakland; godson Mark Williams of Oakland; goddaughter Sheila Shavies of Oakland; three sisters, Margaret Wilson of Oakland and Ursula Williams and Peggy Island of Vallejo; grandchildren, including Shawn and Kandyce Lewis of Oakland and Isabelle Lewis of Hartford, Connecticut; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today, August 31, 2004, at Fouche¹s Hudson Funeral Home, 3665 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Church on San Pablo and 64th streets, Oakland. Burial will follow at St. Vincent All Souls Cemetery, Vallejo.
