Marcos Serquina Agajona, 95 OCEANSIDE -- Marcos Serquina Agajona was born April 24, 1914 in San Nicholas, Pangasinan, Philippines and passed into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on October 6, 2009, at the age of 95 years. Marcos, known as "Tatay" to his family and friends, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded into eternal life by his wife of 72 years, Aspecia Agajona; daughters, Irenia Mondares and Nora Layos; and son, Sozemo. Tatay is survived by his daughter, Fe Aspema Castro of Oceanside; grandchildren, Alex (spouse Enedina) Castro of Oceanside, Julie (Forrest) Perkins of Vista, Roland (Patricia) Castro of Oceanside, Ophelia (William) Walker of Oceanside, Byron Layos of Oceanside, Melardo (Kelsey) Layos of Costa Mesa, Jeremiah Layos of Rancho Santa Margarita; and great-grandchildren, Brian (Kaija Uno) Perkins and Brenda Perkins, David, Stephen and Heidi Castro, Dylan and Darrick Walker, and Nicholas Castro. Tatay was a well-respected teacher and principal in the Philippines for 34 years before immigrating to the U.S. in 1976. He enjoyed playing the violin, reading, and was an avid sports fan (especially baseball, basketball, tennis and pro wrestling). He was also a member of the Filipino American Cultural Association of North County. Tatay will always be remembered for his strength in faith and his devotion to providing for his wife and family as the sole bread winner. Viewing will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Eternal Hills, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside. Funeral and graveside services will be held at 10 am on Friday, November 6, 2009, also at Eternal Hills. Services will be presided by Rev. Rick Malec, Pastor of San Luis Rey Valley United Methodist Church.
