Peter Velasquez, 86, of Ontario, passed away on September 27, 2008 in Ontario,
after battling congestive heart failure. He and his wife of 65 years, Josephine,
were blessed with 5 children; Peter Jr., Stephen, Andrew, Monica and Richard. He
was lo ved by his children's spouses and loved ones: Isabel, Margaret, Lorraine,
Joaquin, and Lena. He is survived by his brother Joseph, brother-in-law Rudy,
along with 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Peter was honored to
serve his country in WWII with the U. S. Army 379th Infantry Division. He
received a battlefield commission to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and received
three bronze stars in fighting for freedom. He spent his 33 year career with San
Francisco Municipal Railway. He was an active mem ber of St. Patrick's Church in
San Francisco and a supportive member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Ontario, CA.
Peter will live in our hearts forever as a loving husband, courageous father and
supportive grandfather. He was a funny, wise and amazing man. In his latter
years, he cared for his wife, Josephine, and set an example that is beyond
measure. A visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday,
September 30, 2008 at Funeraria del Angel Pierce Bros. Griffith, Chino. Mass
will be Wedn esday, 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Ontario. Interment will

Betty "B.J." Dolly, 82, of Ontario passed away on September 16, 2008 at home.
Born May 16, 1926 on Kansas City, MO, she was an Ontario resident since 1977
when she and her husband, Jon, relocated to the area. Betty had attended San
Diego State University and was in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1952,
obtaining the rank of Sergeant. She and her husband, John met in Washington D.C.
where they were both stationed, she at the Marine Corps Aviation Headquart ers
in the Pentagon and John at the Marine Corps Headquarters in Arlington, VA.
During her husband's service, she accompanied him to the Philippines while he
was stationed at the American Embassy there. Betty had her own business for over
20 years, selling flags, specializing in American flags. Some of her many
customers included cities, and cemeteries, as well as individuals. One of the
highlights of her business was the "Flag Pageant" which she (and John) presented
for area schools. Working in conjuncti on with the Marine Corps and the Jr.
ROTC, young people were presented in tabloid, dressed in costumes of the period,
showing the evolving development of our flag. Betty loved animals and the
household had two dogs and two cats. She also loved to read. She is survived by
her husband of 57 years, John Dolly, a retired Marine. Also survivng her are her
dear friends from San Diego, Shirley Embery (her daughter, Linda and husband
Mitch Williams), and Kathleen Morse. The three ladies met in high school and r
emained close friends over the years. It is a comfort to know that her suffering
is over and that she is now face to face with God and reunited with her beloved
Grandmother Addie and friend, Barbara Clanton. Visitation will be Monday,
September 22, 2008 from 4:30 to 8 PM at Draper Mortuary, Ontario. Services will
be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 11:30 AM at Riverside National Cemetery,
Riverside, Staging Area #3. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine
Corps League. Draper Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.

Van Veen, Sr. John Van Veen, Sr., 84, of Ontario, CA, went home to be with Jesus
September 13, 2008. He was born on August 15, 1924 in Koudekerk a/d Rijn, The
Netherlands. He was a dairyman for 50 years and retired at 79. He was a loving
husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise
Van Veen; his seven children: Jackie Van Veen- Beban (Ognjan), John Van Veen Jr
(Vickie), Case Van Veen (Hilda), Alice TeVelde (David), Gary Van Veen (Pam),
Shirley Van Veen, Rosemary Wester (Todd), fifteen grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Wednesday, September 17 at Draper Mortuary
in Ontario. Celebration of life service will be Thursday, September 18 at 11
a.m. with reception immediately following at First United Reformed Church in
Chino. In lieu of flowers, please make your contributions in memory of John Van
