Maria Luz Garcia, 61, of Oxnard passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her bedside on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Oxnard after a long illness.

Maria was born June 18, 1948 in Mexico, and was an Oxnard resident for over 46 years. She is preceded in death by her parents Sabino and Maria Gonzales and her father in-law Anastacio Ramirez.

Maria is survived by her husband of 46 years, Felipe Garcia; two daughters, Maria E. Sanchez (David Sanchez), and Maria J. Montelongo (Frank Montelongo) and her son, Felipe Garcia Jr. (Rachel Garcia); 10 grandchildren, Veronica Garcia Montelongo, Frank Montelongo Jr., Henry Montelongo, David F. Sanchez, Nick Sanchez, Jeremy Huston, Natalia, Becky, Alice and Adrianna Garcia.

In addition, two special people that were close to her heart whom she also saw as grandchildren, Adan Lopez of Ventura and Lizette Valenzuela of Oxnard, along with extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Abraham Orozco and staff for everything they did for her. Also a special thank you to Vitas Hospice Care for sending such a great nurse, Ricardo Ramirez. We could not have asked for a better nurse then you to take care of our grandmother. Thank you all so much.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m.- 10 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Garcia Mortuary on Wednesday, Nov. 4, Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12noon at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Thursday, Nov. 5, Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
