Village Academy High School honored as a California Distinguished School |

It's been quite an exciting few weeks for students and staff at Village
Academy. For much of March there was the national media attention caused by the
President's recognition of the school in a speech, followed by his visit with
VAHS students while in Pomona. Now comes word that Village Academy has been
selected as a California Distinguished School, one of just 25 Los Angeles County
high schools chosen this year. The award identifies and honors those schools
that have demonstrated educational excellence for all students, and progress in
narrowing the achievement gap. In order to be invited to apply for
Distinguished School honors, schools must meet a variety of eligibility criteria
including designated federal and state accountability measures based on No Child
Left Behind (NCLB), Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), and the Academic Performance
Index (API) requirements. What's next, Village Academy? Congratulations on yet
another outstanding achievement!
