SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS Print E-mail

The Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) is offering a five-week academic
Summer School program for elementary students. This program will provide remediation
instruction for students enrolled in grades K-6. Students who will be targeted have scored
Basic, Below Basic, and Far Below Basic on the California Standards Test (CST) in
mathematics and/or English Language Arts- grades 2-6. Students in grades K-1 will be
assessed utilizing Open//Court/Benchmark data. The 2009 summer program will not
contain enrichment component due to funding constraints.

REGISTRATION: The timeline for enrollment is March 20th through April 24th, 2009.
A completed application must be submitted to your “HOME” school site no later than April
24th. Applications will be forwarded to the Summer School Office where class lists will be
generated.

Additional registration information:
▪ Students will receive a letter in May confirming their enrollment.
▪ Students must be present on the first day of class; otherwise, their place
may be given to another student.
▪ Late registration will be held at the “host” summer school sites on June 29th.
▪ Classes without sufficient enrollment may be cancelled. Students will be
notified if this occurs.

DROP POLICY: Students are allowed a maximum of three days absence during the
program. Students who exceed the allowed absences may be dropped from the program.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS: Acceptance into these programs requires regular
attendance and adherence to all rules and policies established by Sacramento City Unified
School District and the summer school site. All sites operate under the Sacramento City
Unified School District closed campus policy; students must remain on campus unless
excused by a parent or school official.
