Standing near the sideline, Bonita Vista High girls soccer coach Ron Pietila raised his left arm and pointed after a ball rolled out of bounds.
He wasn't pleading for a throw-in by the Barons. Pietila, working as an assistant referee in a home match involving his own team, was signaling possession for the opposition.
