Peninsulans hoping to participate in the No on Proposition 8 campaign have two local opportunities within the next week.
On Thursday, a phone bank will be set up at the Unitarian Universalist Church in San Mateo from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The phone bank also will be operating at the same times Thursdays, Sept. 11 and 25; Sundays, Sept. 21 and 28; Mondays, Sept. 22 and 29; and Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The church is located at 300 E. Santa Inez, and training will be provided. Volunteers are asked to bring their cell phones and chargers.
The Peninsula No on 8 Coalition will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Congregational Church of Belmont, 751 Alameda de las Pulgas. Click here for directions.

For those willing to hop on CalTrain, the No on 8 Campaign Headquarters Kickoff Party, featuring San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2278 Market St., Second Floor, San Francisco. (It’s the old Tower Record store.)
