Obituary: Mary Vaillancourt
Mary Vaillancourt Mary Vaillancourt was born to Angela and Virgilio Cocconi on May 17, 1923. She passed away on September 30, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. During WWII she worked at Western Pipe and Steel, and the American Can Company. Mary was wed to Frank Vaillancourt on September 17, 1950. Frank passed away on September 1, 1972. Mary is survived by her daughters; Gale, Joan, and Marie. She was loving grandmother to Paul, Mark, Erik, and Teresa. Mary was very active at St. Matthew's Catholic School. She was an associate member of The Sisters Of The Holy Cross. She served as brownie and girl scout leader. Children were always the love of her life. Mary worked as secretary to the principal at St. Matthew's for 25 years. The children at school were her "Diavelos." Mary was mother, grandmother, nurse, and counselor to them all. She was also known as the "Lollipop Lady" passing out treats to her injured or sick children. Also, during the Christmas holidays, Mary worked at Ah Sam Florist. During her retirement Mary spent a lot of time in her Italian vegetable garden. Flowers were nurtured and bloomed just as her family did with her love and care. Holidays were always celebrated at Grandma's house with good Italian cooking and happy conversation. Mom, we love & miss you. Our memories of you will remain in our hearts forever. Friends may visit at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2008 and to attend a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. at SNEIDER & SULLIVAN & O'CONNELL'S FUNERAL HOME, 977 So. El Camino Real in San Mateo. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1 Notre Dame Avenue in San Mateo. Committal at Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alto.
