Betty S. Velarde May 4, 1913 - August 15, 2008 At age 95, has joined her beloved husband Anastacio in rest. An Army wife of many years, she raised their two daughters Elizabeth and Deborah on three continents and instilled in them a lifelong love of travel. Fond of entertaining, dancing and rumballs, her family's life was filled with delicious foods, friends and music. Active in several Filipino social clubs, she was always smartly dressed and enjoyed playing mahjong and having a laugh. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Sutter VNA Hospice, the community of Sunrise Assisted Living of San Mateo, and especially to Zeze for her compassionate care of Betty in her final 18 months. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1 Notre Dame Avenue at So. El Camino Real in San Mateo. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma.
