John "Jack" Dexter Olson February 4, 1915 - August 18, 2008 John "Jack" Olson, 93, passed away Mon., Aug. 18 surrounded by his family. He was born in St. Paul, MN, graduated from Cretin High School in 1933 and came to the Bay Area in 1934. During WWII, he served with the US Air Force, Pan American Airways, ATC Group stationed in Pearl City, Oahu, HI. John married Loraine Stannard in 1936 and together they enjoyed traveling the world for 64 years. He retired after 38 years as a logistics manager with Pan American Airways. In retirement, John enjoyed over 30 years as a volunteer for the Travelers Aid at SFO, Mills Peninsula Hospital Auxiliary and St. Matthews Church in San Mateo. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Keyser (Charles) of Grass Valley; brother, Don Olson of Cortaro, AZ; grandchildren, Sharon Shaffer (Chris) of Portola Valley, Lauren Lopez (John) of Portola Valley, Mark Keyser (Heather) of Washougal, Matthew Keyser of San Francisco; great grandchildren, Alex, Jack and Matthew Lopez, Elizabeth, Nick and John Shaffer, Tyson and Lauren Keyser. A Visitation will be held Sunday, August 24th at 3:00pm and Rosary at 4:00pm at Sneider, Sullivan and O'Connell's in San Mateo. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 25th at 1:00pm at St. Matthew Catholic Church in San Mateo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church Religious Education in San Mateo or the Mills-Peninsula Hospital Foundation in Johns' name.
