William Aylett Sparkes, 78, of Yuba City, CA passed away at home on January 28, 2009. Born February 15, 1930 in San Mateo, CA, he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 58 years.
William was a graduate of Marysville High School, Class of 1948. He received his AA Degree in Agriculture at the University of California Davis.
William was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea from 1951-1955.
He worked with his father in Sales for Oliver Tractor Equipment Company in Yuba City, CA and was a retired Fertilizer Sales Person with Puregro in Robbins CA, where he was employed for 25 years.
William was a 53 year member of the Marysville Elks Lodge #783 and was a past Exalted Ruler, Former Treasurer, Former Trustee, Secretary/ Treasurer Marysville Elks P.E.R. Association, Former Marysville Elks Bingo Chairman, Co-Chairman North Central District Elks Veteran's Association. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1207, Yuba City, CA, volunteer for the Yuba County Senior's Association, organized the Bingo for the daily lunches, a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West #261, Sutter, CA. Member of American Legion Post #807, Linda, CA for 44 years, member of the Frank C. Reilly Chapter E. Clampus Vitus, La Porte, CA.
In addition, he was a Life Sustaining Member of the University of California Davis, Cal Aggie Alumni Association, and an avid Aggie Fan.
William is survived by his longtime companion Rose Marie Chapman of Sacramento, CA; sister Dorette A. Boyer of Chico, CA; nephew Andrew Boyer of Seattle, WA; and niece Cynthia Ramesh of Vancouver, WA.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Aylett "Sparkie" and Doris Sparkes.
Memorial Service will be Saturday February 7, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Marysville Elks Lodge, 920 D St., Marysville, CA. Officiated by Past Exalted Rulers of the Marysville Elks Lodge.
Private cremation will be held, with inurnment at Sutter Cemetery, Sutter, CA.
