Campeau Selected in First Round of NLL Draft PDF Print E-mail

Former Notre Dame de Namur lacrosse attackman Tim Campeau was selected in the first round (12th overall) of Sunday’s National Lacrosse League Draft by the Portland Lumberjacks.  The draft held at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston featured six rounds with 76 total players being picked.

“We came into the draft wanting a player who could step in right away”, said Portland’s Head Coach/General Manager Derek Keenan.  “We achieved that by picking up Tim.  He’s extremely athletic and played great at the Combine Game.”

Campeau is the third player from NDNU to be selected in the NLL draft following Keegan Davidson and Mark Scherman’s selections in the second round last year.

Campeau owns nearly every single season and career scoring record at NDNU including career goals, assists and points.  Last season as a senior, he led the team with 71 points and 41 assists while finishing second goals with 30.  The previous year, Campeau set school records in points with 79 and assists with 45.  His 5.64 and 5.46 points per game in 2007 and 2008 rank one-two in school history as well.

For his career, Campeau’s 234 total points, 106 goals, 128 assists and 5.20 points per game rank first in school history.

The NLL is the professional indoor lacrosse league. The NLL has 13 teams playing in the major markets of the United States and Canada. NLL teams play a 16-game regular season schedule that begins in December and runs through April, followed by the Champion's Cup Playoffs.
