Call it the “Million Dollar Baby” effect. The critically-acclaimed 2004 movie, starred Hilary Swank and Clint Eastwood about an amateur female boxer who, under the tutelage of a down-and-out trainer, rises from anonymity all the way to a professional title match. No doubt that movie inspired many females around the world to get into boxing. “As soon as that movie came out, a lot of girls started showing up to the gym,” said Rick Nava, a Redwood City Police Activities League boxing coach. “But Nancy is the only one who has stuck it out.” For the complete story
