Phelps sets world mark; Torres, 41, earns 5th Olympic trip

OMAHA, Neb. - As the U.S. Olympic Team's swimming trials entered its final three days,Julia Smit and Andrea Axtell wore the Stanford colors on the Fourth of July.

Smit, who on Thursday was selected to her first Olympic team, swam a pair of events Friday - including a solid, sixth-place showing in the 100-meter freestyle final with a time of 54.99 seconds. Earlier Friday, Smit swam in the prelims for the 200-meter backstroke, falling .37 seconds shy of advancing to the semis with a time of 2:13.89.

Also competing in the 200-meter back was Axtell, who touched the wall in a solid time of 2:15.55
