Hanning, Dora Sanchez (O' Campo), born August 1, 1930, died
August 1, 2008. After a month long struggle with stomach cancer in its
fourth stage and a previously suffering from a stroke Dora submitted to
God's plan and died peacefully. Born in Hurley, New Mexico, moved to
Irvine, California with her family, at five years of age. Dora
graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1949. She married Joe A.
O'Campo, Realestate Broker on July 21, 1951 at the age 21 they had 4
chrildren and after 19 years of marriage they divorced. She later
married Thomas V. Hanning on March 21, 1972 who had 5 previous
children. They were married for 16 years until he passed away on May
22, 1988. A bookkeeper for Singer Sewing Company, downtown Santa Ana
for ten years, then a business owner of, originally Joe's Liquor then
later to become Dora's Liquor, in Santa Ana for 25 years. After selling
the business 1989 she went to work at California Dental/Pacific Care as
a customer service representative for ten years and then retired on May
14, 1999. She was an remained an active member of L.U.L.A.C. throughout
her life holding various officers positions as secretary and treasurer.
Dora was loved by many who had the privilege to know her. A fine figure
of a woman, a wonderful mother, a good sister, a devoted wife, and
always a good friend to all. A talented hostess with the mostest in the
60's. She always willing to help out wherever she could, she hosted
many campaign funding events at her home in Santa Ana such as for
Governor Pat Brown with her husband then husband Joe O'Campo. Dora
loved to gamble and socialize and had many friends she stayed in touch
with after her retirement. Dora was a gracious giving lady with a
delightful sense of humor always a joy to be around. For years she
enjoyed bowling and joined a bowling leagues with her children Jim and
Cathy with their spouses and co-workers and later to go to Las Vegas
for the finals. She went on several cruises and trips with co-workers
and family members such as visiting each California Mission wth her 3
sisters. On Sundays she would enjoy play poker regularly with her
sisters with a pot luck for refreshments for many years. A devout
catholic attending church every Sunday to always be the shining example
for us all. Dora is survived by her four children, Laurette Marie
O'Campo, Catherine Leslie O' Campo Lopez; son-in-law, Vincent Lopez,
James Glen O' Campo; daugher-in-law, Carolyn, and Lisa Marie O'Campo;
as well as her three grandchildren, Jacob, age 11, Rachel, age 7, and
Geniva O'Campo age 13; her sisters, Minnie Montano, Molly Fernandez,
and Belan Morales and numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving
relatives. We will be honoring and celebrating her life with joy and
sadness to the passing of this wonderful giving lady. Dora will be
missed by us all. Services are scheduled at the St. Joseph's Church,
727 Minter Street, Santa Ana, CA at 9:00 a.m. Friday August 8, 2008.
Burial will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 7845 E. Santiago Canyon
Rd., Orange. A Reception will be held afterwards on Friday at El Modina
Park, Orange, CA 92689. directions will be distributed. You may contact

Thursday evening, August 7, 2008 will be a viewing from 5:00 -7:00 p.m.
and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at MacDougall Family Mortuary, 1610 E. First
St. Santa Ana, CA 92701.
