Ramirez, Josephine Flores, March 17, 1923 – Sept. 10, 2008. Josephine F.
Ramirez, 85, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Santa Ana,
surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Talbert, CA (now Huntington Beach),
Josephine was a resident of Santa Ana for over 70 years. Along with her former
husband, Mike Ramirez (deceased), she was one of the first Hispanic business
owners in Santa Ana. Together they owned and operated Ramirez Nursery on 1st
Street. A dedicated mother, Josephine worked for Kerr Glass for over 30 years to
provide for her four children. She worked concurrently as a representative for
Avon, where she received numerous awards in recognition of her achievements,
becoming an honorary member of the prestigious President's Club. Josephine
continued as a representative for Avon well into her 80's. Lovingly called Mama
Ramirez by her family, friends, and loved ones, Josephine will be best
remembered for her loyalty, dedication, wit and tenacity, as well as her great
sense of humor and lust for life. She was the epitome of a woman who lived life
to its fullest and her passing leaves a void in many lives. She will be deeply
missed. Josephine is survived by her children, Albert F. (Nidia) Ramirez,
Estevan Ramirez, Soledad (Ascención) Jacobo, and Joanna (Terry) Peterson-
McCall; brother, Manuel Flores; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and
preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Soledad Flores; and her sister,
Carmen Flores. Viewing on Monday, September 15, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Rosary, Monday, the 15th at 7:00 p.m. Burial services to be held on Tuesday,
September 16, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. All services to be held at Westminster Memorial
Park Chapel, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683. The family of Josephine
F. Ramirez extends a sincere thank you to Hospice Touch of Santa Ana for helping
to care for our beloved mother/grandmother.
