Ventura County lost an elegant lady on July 23, 2008. Louise Margit Hart,
after a brief illness, died at Community Memorial Hospital of complications of
idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. She had valiantly survived two bouts of cancer
over the past four years.
Mrs. Hart was born May 21, 1930, in Long Beach, Calif. She was the youngest
child of Reverend and Mrs. Nordahl B. Thorpe.
Her two older brothers, Burton and Jerrold, and her parents predeceased
her.
She attended and graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara
and also Woodbury University. She married William L. Hart, M.D., August 25,
1951, and the following year moved to New York City where Dr. Hart attended
medical school, graduating in 1956. She worked in New York City as an executive
secretary supporting the newlyweds. Dr. Hart had a four-year academic
scholarship to medical school, but Louise provided all other funding needed to
live in New York City.
Mrs. Hart moved back to California with her husband where he completed his
internship and then was drafted into the United States Air Force and stationed
in Fairbanks, Alaska, from 1957-1959. While in Alaska their only child, Karen
Louise, was born.
Daughter Karen succumbed to bone cancer in 1997.
The Harts lived in Los Angeles while Dr. Hart completed his residency in
internal medicine and then as chief resident in Cardiology at University of
California Los Angeles Medical Center, where he was on the clinical faculty for
over twenty years, now emeritus. They moved to Ventura in 1962, where Dr. Hart
entered practice, establishing the Ventura Cardiology Consultants.

active in civic activities including the Ventura County Assistance League where
she was a Lifetime Member for over 46 years, the Community Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary for over 45 years, Friends of the Library for many years and P. E. O.
Sisterhood, Chapter FZ for over 45 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher at

Foundation for the new hospital building fund.
