PETERSON, Ingle Christian Peacefully entered into rest after a long illness of
Cortibasal Degeneration, he was 70 years old. He was born in Libertyville, IL to
Eric and Louise and moved with his family to Long Beach, CA in 1945 where he
grew up. Ingle had a special gift for languages, he was very skilled in German
and even spoke some Swahili. He was fluent in Russian, a language which he
learned while serving in the US Army. He later graduated from UCLA, achieving a
Masters degree, and following that became a teacher, teaching Russian at the
high school level in Long Beach, CA and later at USC. His expertise in Russian
was so advanced that he later became the first non native Russian to ever
instruct at the famed Monterey School of Languages in Monterey, CA. Quite
simply, when Ingle spoke Russian, he was viewed as a Russian. He moved to Sonoma
County 30 years ago where he met and married his wife Marilyn. They shared 28
years of togetherness, he was a lovely man. A highly respected and much loved
teacher. Empire College was fortunate to have him as an instructor for the last
18 years. His students would tell him he was the best teacher they ever had. He
leaves behind his family of two sons, Eric (Elizabeth) and Brian of Southern,
CA; brothers Carl (Lori) of Kansas City, MO, David (Nita) of Ashville, NC and
Neal (Brenda) of Scottsdale, AZ; his stepdaughter, Alicia (Dean) DeBonis and the
worlds cutest grandbaby, Sierra of Las Vegas, NV. Ingle is also survived by five
nieces, five nephews and four grand nephews and was loved and adored by numerous
cousins. His furry companions, Natasha, Sugar Bear and Teddy Bear will miss nap
time with thier "Dad". He loved traveling, football (Chief's), music, golf,
playing craps, and ice cream. His favorite thing was sitting in the backyard
telling stories with a cold beer. We would like to thank his caregivers, Suzette
and Mel for all their help, and a special thank you to my brother and sister in
law, Kenney and Mira Woodworth for their support and help. We will never be able
to repay all your kindness and affection for Ingle when he needed it most. To
his friends who stayed in touch, made dinners and gave shoulders to lean on, we
offer our extreme gratitude. We loved him and will miss him with all our hearts.
A memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the
Ingle C. Peterson Trust Fund, with the proceeds given in scholarship, at the
Exchange Bank, 500 Larkfield Center, Santa Rosa, CA 95403. Arrangements under
the care of SANTA ROSA MORTUARY EGGEN & LANCE CHAPEL 545-3747.
