Theodore (Ted) Furman A 43-year resident of Saratoga, passed
away peacefully on October 29 surrounded by his family. Ted was born on July 23,
1922 in New York City and lived in East Orange, New Jersey throughout his school
years. He attended Columbia University, and graduated from Columbia School of
Law, after serving in the US Army for four years during WWII. Furman was a
Master Gunner responsible for broadcasting early warning signals to ground
troops in France, Germany, and Luxembourg. After Law school, he relocated to San
Diego where he met and married his wife, Gerry. They moved to the Bay Area in
1955 where Ted spent 40 years in aerospace, working for Lockheed, Ford Aerospace
and Loral. He retired at age 82. Ted was an avid sports enthusiast, attending
his first baseball game at Yankee Stadium on his 10th birthday and watching Babe
Ruth play. He was a Yankees fan to the end. He coached several Little League and
Senior League teams in Sunnyvale and Saratoga. Ted served on the Zoning Board,
and Planning Commission in Sunnyvale. Theodore is survived by his wife of 57
years, Gerry, and two daughters, Teri Howes, and Sue Furman. Friends are invited
to a gathering held in his memory on Sunday, November 22, from 2 -5 p.m. at the
family home.

Gerald E. "Jerry" Gallagher In Saratoga July 8, 2009. Loving husband of the late
Kathryn A. "Kay" Gallagher for 641/2 years; dear father of David E. (Helen)
Gallagher Sr. and Kevin F. (Barbara) Gallagher; loving grandfather of Jennifer
(John) Everett, David E. Jr.(Amy) and Joseph W. (Adrianne) Gallagher, Kelly,
Leigh and Sean Gallagher; and great-grandfather of Stephen, Reid, Ember, Tessa
Rhen, Emma Grace, Strawberry Rose and Azonie Jade. Jerry was a graduate of
Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1931 and the University of San Francisco,
Class of 1935, receiving his bachelor's degree in political science.
Commissioned a lieutenant in the US Maritime Service, serving three years as a
combination purser/pharmacist mate during WWII in the Merchant Marine. retired
ambulance steward for the City and County of San Francisco, with 30 years of
dedicated and loyal service. A member and past-president of South San Francisco
Parlor #157 NSGW, Fryers Club of San Francisco; Apollo Lodge #120 IOOF; Past
Noble Grand of Volcano Lodge #25 lOOF; member of Golden Gate Chapter of US
Merchant Marine and Retired Veteran of SF Police Officers (honorary); and the
Saratoga Retirement Community. A native of San Francisco; age 95. Family and
friends may call Monday 2:00PM to 4:00PM at SULLIVAN'S FUNERAL HOME, 2254 Market
St., bet Noe and Sanchez Sts and after 6:30PM at St. Gabriel's Church, 40th
Avenue and Ulloa St. where the Vigil Service will be at 7:00PM. Family and
friends are also invited to the Funeral Mass Tuesday at 11:00 AM, also at St.
Gabriel's, followed by Committal in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in Jerry's
memory preferred to donor's favorite charity.

Marta Esteverena Of San Francisco, and formerly of Saratoga,
CA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at her home. Born June
8th, 1944 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she married Rolando Esteverena and
embarked upon a loving 42 year relationship. Marta and Rolando were keen
sailors, keeping the boat "Buenos Aires" in the SF Bay. They shared many
wonderful family vacations to sailing destinations around the world. A lover of
the arts and current affairs, Marta was a docent at the SFMOMA, a Commonwealth
Club member, and a patron of the SF Symphony. Marta is survived by her husband
Rolando, sons Alex and Martín, daughters-in-law Ruth and Rebecca, and beloved
grandchildren Amelia, Isabel, Anna, Andrew, Alex and Rosemary Marta, all of whom
will miss "Grandmama" very much. A mass celebrating Marta's life will be held at
St. Ignatius Church at 650 Parker Ave, San Francisco on Friday, June 26th, 2009
at 10 a.m.
