Brian Carleton 7-10-33 to 8-15-08 Of Saratoga CA, native of Belfast, Ireland, Brian came to the U.S. in his early 20's. He was drafted to the army and served in the 84th Engineer Battalion at Fort Ord. Brian had a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for the Boeing and Ampex companies. He later became part owner of a precision machine shop in Santa Clara. Prior to retirement, he also worked with Space Systems Loral and had a hand in the Mabuyhay Satellite Program. Brian was a lifelong Porsche enthusiast and member of the PCA-GGR. He loved showing his Porsches at car shows around the bay area for over 30 years and was awarded many ribbons, plaques and trophies. He pit crewed on the most successful private Porsche endurance race team of the late 70's to early 80's which scored wins at such venues as the famed 24 Hrs of LeMans and Daytona. Brian always enjoyed the outdoors. From racing bicycles as a young man in Belfast and golfing for as long as he was able, Brian came to enjoy just simply walking several miles a day with his sidekick Lizzie, his neighbor's dog. Although diagnosed in 2000 with prostate cancer, Brian kept a positive outlook to fight it and kept healthy and fit. He is survived by his wife D'Anne, son Steve, and daughter Sally, her husband John Parman; and grandchildren Brian and Geneva. He will be missed.
