the upgrade to PH has made it a very swanky joint. Las Vegas strip look and feel. I mean that in a good way. Menu and Wine List are superb. I had one of the greatest meals here before it was upgraded, rack of lamb, CdQ with dessert. Post upgrade it was all still good, but maybe not quite up to my very high expectations.
With reservations.... we waited an hour for our table.
During our FOUR HOUR wait for our food, the kitchen served us ice cream... ice cream before the main meal. The food was good.... after the kitchen corrected the mistakes. One mistake was cooking a New York steak well done, when it was ordered rare. Any beginner chef knows how to cook the most basic of proteins.
The service was horrid. The atmosphere was almost gothic, due to the Food Servers' lack of sincere hospitality. Don't drink your bottle of wine too quickly, because the food servers aren't very prompt.
Much more should be expected when two people spend over $500.00 for a dinner.
Wonderful experience: My husband and I had a wonderful dinner. Service is top rate, if not a little overwhelming to begin with, but as you settle in, it becomes very attentive, but not intrusive. We went the "whole hog", and ordered the tasting menu with wine. The somelier was terrific, and told us about each of our wine parings, all of which were wonderful wines.
Each of our nine courses was beautifully presented, and very tasty. They put the menu together with your own tastes in mind. (I don't care for foix gras, so was given another choice for that course)
The portions were a good size, and we were very full when we left. Do not be in a hurry to go anywhere, this is a full evenings entertainment. We were dining for 4 hours, and time flew by. we were going to sit in the lounge and listen to the live band, but definatley needed a lie down after all that wonderful food and wine. Recommend it highly, but not a cheap night out. Great for special occasions.
