Edward P. Gillespie
May 2, 1917 - October 29, 2009
Edward P. Gillespie passed away in Stockton, CA on October 29, 2009 at the
age of 92. He was born in Owenyo, CA, an old railroad town in the Owens Valley,
on May 2, 1917 to James and Mary Ellen Gillespie who had immigrated from
Ireland. He grew up in Oakland where he attended Catholic schools and went on to
UC Davis. Ed enjoyed playing baseball when he was growing up. He worked as a
health inspector and owned a couple of small restaurants before going to work
for Carnation Milk Co. In 1946 he was transferred to Stockton where he was the
general manager in the Central Valley for Carnation.
In 1954 he started Calva Products, a feed manufacturing company, which he
built into a leading company in it's industry. He sold the business in 1980 and
remained as a consultant for a number of years. His work was his hobby and he
loved spending time trying to develop his business and investments. When he
wasn't working he enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to fish and
fished the Klamath River for sixty years. Ed enjoyed music and particularly
liked going to musical shows in San Francisco and the foothills. He was
predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Kathleen, and his son Bob. Survived by his
son Allen of Lincoln, his sister Florence of Lafayette and his grandchildren
Gaylene Furgison of Stockton, Lisa (Peter) Sullivan of Palo Alto, Charise
Gillespie of Saratoga, David L. Gillespie of Minneapolis, Michael Gillespie of
San Francisco, David Gillespie of Lake Tahoe, his great grandchildren, Jeff
Furgison (Cheryl), Kristopher Furgison, Zachary Cooper, Nicholas Sullivan, Alec
Sullivan, Mikinos Vasquez and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service,
Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery,
Stockton, CA. There will be no visitation. DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N.

Joanne Fujita, 54 of Stockton, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in
a local hospital. Born on April 27, 1955 in Stockton, she graduated from Stagg
High School and attended several years of college. She was a homemaker for 27
years and a member of the Stockton Buddhist Temple. Joanne is survived by her
husband of 27 years, Jack Fujita of Stockton. Loving mother of Janice M. Fujita
of Stockton. Beloved daughter of Tadao and Miyoko Oshima of Stockton. Sister of
Gail Oshima of San Mateo and Sylvia Oshima of Stockton.
Friends are invited to attend services on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 4 p.m.
in the Stockton Buddhist Temple, 2820 Shimizu Dr., Stockton. Max Carroll
assisting the family.

Jacqueline Estelle Renney
Nov. 30, 1922 - Sept. 18, 2009
Jacqueline Renney passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2009, with family by her side.
Jackie, a lifelong Stockton resident, was born on November 30, 1922 to the late Sol and Wilhelmina Klein. She attended Victory Grammar School and Stockton High School where she met her beloved and devoted husband of 62 years, Jack S. Renney who preceded her in death.
Jackie had an artistic flair and enjoyed many hobbies but especially being an avid gardener who created beautiful garden settings at her Stockton and Santa Cruz homes. She loved the beach and ocean, which inspired her to create coastal art from beach glass. She was also a talented artist who won many awards from the Stockton Art League and had her work displayed at the Crocker Art Gallery in Sacramento, CA.
In her final years, Jackie was exquisitely cared for by Sylvia Pinon, Sarah Salazar and the wonderful staff at Meadowood Care Facility. She is survived by her brother, Bud D. Klein and sisters-in-law, Jane Klein and Helen Renney; daughter, Jill Corkern (Robert); son, James (Mona Helen); her grandchildren, Shannon Freeborn (William), Matthew Corkern (Heidi), Andrew Corkern, Shelby Jacquez (Thomas), Claire Renney, Jack Renney, Chloe Guillemot, and Wynham Guillemot; her great grandchildren, Logan, Jillian and Luke Freeborn and Andrew, Finley and Jane Corkern, numerous nieces and nephews and many members of her extended family.
At Mrs. Renney's request, a private family service is being held. There will be no visitation. DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California Street, Stockton, CA is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at the Stockton Woodland Mausoleum.
Family suggests memorial contributions in Jackie's memory be made to Children's Home of Stockton, P.O. Box 201068, Stockton, CA 95201.
