Georgia Ann Carter          
Georgia Ann Carter 98, of Sunnyvale, CA died July 29, 2008 in Mountain View, CA. She was born June 1, 1910 in Grizane, Yugoslavia and grew up in St. Louis, MO. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Sidney M. Carter. She is survived by her son Sid Jr. and grandson Danny. Georgia was a Captain in the Women's Army Corps from 1943-1947. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for 52 years. She also arranged flowers for the Filoli Center for 20 years. Full Military graveside services will be held Aug. 6, 2008 at 11am at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto, CA. MCINTYRE, PETER JAY - age 70 of Knoxville, TN, previously of Cottonwood, AZ and Sunnyvale, CA, passed away suddenly early Monday morning, July 21, 2008. He was born on the naval base in San Diego, CA. Pete was in the first graduating class of Menlo-Atherton High School in Atherton, CA. He served in the U.S. Army and earned a degree in engineering. He went on to earn his Masters Degree in Human Resource Management at Golden Gate University, San Francisco, CA, where he later served as adjunct professor of Human Resources. Pete retired in 1998 as Vice President of Human Resources at Teledyne MEC in Mountain View, CA after 38 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His children valued Pete's advice and example in life and work. Pete loved cooking for his family and friends, gardening, bridge, and golf, even winning the Gettysvue Governors Cup on Sunday. Pete enjoyed extensive traveling, especially cruises. In Arizona, he was a member of the local Model A club and loved to restore Model A cars. Pete avidly coached Little League baseball and soccer and enjoyed being an Indian Scout leader as his children were growing up. Pete was a generous man who loved and embraced life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvilla and Martha McIntyre, and by his wife of 30 years, Kathryn. Pete is survived by his loving wife Janet; his son, Michael and fianc? Theresa of San Jose, CA; his daughter, Susan and her sons, "the triplets", Brenan, Nathan, and Lonnan of Atascadero, CA and their grandmother Shirley Bird; his son, Bryon and wife Laura of Santa Clara, CA; Janet's daughters and families, Laurie and Allen Tubbs and children, Matthew and Hunter of Atlanta, GA, Lindsey and Tom Bourne and children Max, Brooke, and Haley of Knoxville, TN; cherished brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Connie of San Jose, CA; his niece, Gina of Los Angeles, CA; life-long friend, Tom Wong and his wife Pat of Redwood City, CA; and long time friends, Phil and Judy Atkinson of Ormond Beach, FL. Joanne G. Kurkowski July 23, 1929 - July 4, 2008 Joanne Kurkowski passed away peacefully on July 4, 2008 at her Sunnyvale Eichler home surrounded by her family and friends. She is survived by Richard, her loving husband for 54 years, daughter Wendy, son-in-law Stephen Shepard, grandson son Kyle, and her brother, William Fredine. Born in St. Paul, MN, Joanne was the first female television news film editor in Minnesota. Moved to California in 1955 so her husband could begin his career at NASA-Ames Research Center. Joanne & Dick adopted their parent's hobby and fell in love as dance partners, doing folk dances from around the world. They performed locally and overseas with the Ensemble International Folk Dance Group for 26 years. In addition to mother/homemaker extraordinary, Joanne worked in various positions at Palo Alto Medical Clinic, Sylvania, Philco Ford Aerospace, and later as Office Administrator at her church. Visitation on Friday, July 11 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 P.M, and also on Saturday, July 12 from 9:00-11:00 AM at LIMA & CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave, Sunnyvale, CA, followed by a Graveside Service at 11:30 AM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos, CA. In addition, a Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, July 26 at 2:00 PM at Union Church of Cupertino, 20900 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino.
