Mrs.
Florence L. Cohen, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., passed away
peacefully Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011. She was born in New York City on
Aug. 4, 1931. Florence worked as an educator in the Hoke County School
District and taught drama at Methodist College and speech at
Fayetteville State University. Flo loved the theater and acted in many
productions at the Fort Bragg Playhouse, Fayetteville Little Theater,
Gilbert Theater and other local venues. With her husband, George Cohen,
and Jane Berry, she owned and operated the Bordeaux Dinner Theater. Flo
supported many community organizations including the Fayetteville
Symphony, the Women's Club, Hadassah, Fort Bragg Officers' Wives Club
and the Fayetteville Arts Council. In the later years of her life she
lived in Sunnyvale near her son. She is survived by her daughter, Amy
Berg, son-in-law, Christopher Berg, and grandchildren, Audra and Vann of
New York City; and son, Gary Cohen, daughter-in-law, Deborah Schultz,
and grandchildren, Joshua and Veronika of Sunnyvale. A celebration of
her life will be held in Fayetteville in early spring 2012. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah, the Gilbert
Theater, or the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Arts Council. Lima &
