Aurelia Diaz Gomez Was born November 14, 1918 in Zacoalco De Torres, Jalisco Mexico. She was a resident of Sunnyvale, CA for 59 years. She passed away January 14, 2009 after a long illness. Aurelia survived her first husband Raul Castro, father of her 4 children, and Joel P. Gomez, father of their only son, Bill Gomez from Merced, CA. Aurelia worked for Libby Cannery in Sunnyvale for 28 years where she raised her 3 sons and 2 daughters. She loved spending time in her garden. She also loved having her large family around her, and especially loved Mariachi music. She enjoyed hearing her nephews and nieces serenade her. She was the matriarch of this large, loving family and she will be dearly missed by all that loved her. She is survived by daughters, Jovita Herrera of San Jose, Gloria Martinez of Campbell, son, Alfredo Castro (deceased December 24, 1981), daughter, Silvia Castro who followed him in heaven in 1982 and son, Mario Castro, who resided with her in Saratoga during the last three years of her illness. Mario took the most loving and superb care of his mother, along with his wife, Gloria Castro. Aurelia leaves behind 31 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 5pm with a rosary at 7pm at the LIMA & CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave, Sunnyvale, CA. Funeral mass will be Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Church, 13716 Saratoga Ave, Saratoga, CA 95070 at 9:30 am. Committal will be held immediately after the mass at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara, CA 95050. Interment will be Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 10am at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
